A letter of intent from RegenZ
RegenZ has given us a letter of intent for 500kg of our AgroSurf biosurfactant. The order depends on our material passing soil microbe testing first, which we are now running with SoilScopes.
The trial is a greenhouse pot trial on cabbage and wheat. It uses seven treatments across seventy pots and runs for about ten to twelve weeks. The main comparison is RegenZ's SeaBrix product made with our biosurfactant instead of its current synthetic wetting agent, tested against the existing formulation, the surfactant on its own, and a synthetic and an organic fertiliser benchmark. Through the trial they measure the soil's microbial life, root and plant growth, and how well water soaks into the soil.
This data matters to us well beyond the single order. If we can show that our biosurfactant replaces a synthetic wetting agent without harming soil life, that is the evidence we need to keep moving further into the agrochemical sector.
We should be clear about one thing. 500kg is more than our pilot can produce. This is the kind of order our 10,000L demonstration facility is being built to fill, and it is a good sign of the demand starting to build behind it.
Early results from the woodchip work
One of our earlier agricultural partners has been testing our biosurfactant as a wetting agent in making fertiliser from woodchips, and the early results are promising. In their process they have seen a 90% reduction in the run-off of liquid during production, which means far more of the product stays in the fertiliser rather than being lost.
We are now working with them to design a full pilot on a cubic metre of woodchips, to see whether that result holds at a larger scale. If it does, it could become another sizeable offtake opportunity for us in the agrochemical sector.
